Census 2010: It's in Your Hands

The Census 2010 forms should be arriving in your mailboxes starting today throughout the city. It's important that you take moment to fill out it and return it. This year's form is the shortest one in history, just ten questions. That's right just ten questions, that takes ten minutes of your time, to make a lasting difference in your community.

To assist in the efforts to have an accurate count of the citizens of the City of Buffalo, Mayor Byron Brown has established the Buffalo Complete Count Committee, which is comprised of a host of community based organizations, not-for profits, faith-based institutions and the Buffalo Public School district all working together to get the word out about the importance of having a complete and accurate count for the City of Buffalo. The U.S. Census is used to determine our congressional representatives, drawing of boundary lines for the federal, state, and local legislative districts, allocating federal dollars for infrastructure projects like roads and highways, schools and health care facilities.

Over $400 billion dollars annually will be provided to communities throughout the country over the next ten years. The Buffalo Niagara region stands to receive nearly $2billion of those funds annually, but it all rests with you filling out the form and returning it, so that we receive our fair share. It won't happen without you, that's why it's in your hands!

Until next time, Let's Keep Building A Better Community Together!
