Lay-offs,Lay-offs,don't talk to me about Lay-offs!

For you sports enthusiasts, you'll notice the title is a play on the famous lines uttered by coach Jim Mora of the Indianapolis Colts, when asked about his team's chances of making the playoffs in the NFL.

Given the state of our economy and the fact that we're in the midst of a recession, we're all aware that people are going to experience some job losses. Rather than focusing on the jobs being lost, we need to be thinking about how we create other opportunities for those being affected by the downturn in the economy.

The Buffalo Employment & Training Center offers many great services to city residents looking for employment opportunities at a family sustaining wage. The career counselors there are ready to assist you with your job search activities. BETC also offers opportunities for you to go through a training program to help you retrain for a new career venture or to make you more marketable in your current field.

So give them a call at 716-856-JOBS(5627)or check them out online at http://www.workforcebuffalo.org/ for more information about their services and how they can help!

Until next time... we'll see you, where the jobs are!
